 Rafal Blechacz’s Website

“…One of the most finely honed pianists of his generation, his playing is full of flair and charm and sparkles with wit and character. He conveys both serious intent and huge enjoyment, giving the music shape and driving momentum. Do hear him.”– BBC Music Magazine

We still remember Polish pianist, Blechacz’s unforgettable performances in the Chan Centre in 2008 and 2013. He is truly a charismatic pianist. In October 2005, uncontested, Rafał Blechacz won all prizes of the prestigious 15th Frédéric Chopin International Piano Competition. This opened the door for him to grand concert halls and assured a contract with Deutsche Grammophon. Since then Blechacz has been developing an impressive career, playing in the most famous concert halls and releasing five CDs under the ‘yellow label’ of DG.
In January 2014 he won the prestigious Gilmore Artist Award, one of the most prestigious music awards in the world, awarded every four years to a distinguished, extraordinary concert pianist, regardless of age or nationality.

In the past two seasons Rafał Blechacz has performed with the Montreal Symphony and Bramwell Tovey, Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra and Sir Trevor Pinnock, and Amsterdam Sinfonietta on tour with concerts in Germany, Switzerland and the Czech Republic. In recital he performed in London’s Wigmore Hall, Cambridge, Southampton, Berlin, Frankfurt, and Vienna. In autumn 2014 he gave his debut recital at Carnegie Hall, New York. In 2016 Blechacz took one year off working on expanding his repertoire.
