Stunning performance by Charles
Richard-Hamelin in the sold-out recital
Excitement
was building in anticipation of the Charles Richard-Hamelin
Vancouver debut on November 6th at the Playhouse.
I think we all agree that Charles' performance even surpassed our
expectations in a remarkable evening of music
that will be remembered for a long time. What a wonderful feeling to
have a Canadian pianist with such an affinity for Chopin. For those who
missed his concert we have good news: Charles will return soon.
Here are a few
comments:
"It was one of the more
impressive piano recitals we've seen in quite some time."
"It was a magical evening
of music making."
"As good a performance by
a pianist I've ever seen! Flawless technique and beautiful restrained
dynamics!"
You can read here a review of this recital
by Geoffrey Newman.
The day before the concert on November 5th, Tom Lee Music organized a
meeting with
music students at their Steinway piano showroom where Charles
Richard-Hamelin shared his competition experience.
You can see photos
from this meeting.
