Two
concert package -
special offer
There are
still two more
incredible recitals in
our current season:
Nelson Goerner,
described by critics as
"a stratospheric pianist
and a musician of pure
genius", and Kate Liu,
bronze prizewinner at
the 2015 International
Chopin Competition in
Warsaw, as well as
recipient of the prize
for best performance of
a mazurka (probably the
most sought after award
of the competition).
These are two very
different artists -
Goerner is a mature
artist at the height of
his powers; Liu is a
young talent with a
unique voice, and at the
outset of her artistic
and musical journey.
This will be Liu's
Vancouver debut.
In an eloquent review,
Le Monde writes,
“Majestic in Chopin,
unquestionable in
Debussy, the Argentinian
pianist Nelson Goerner
is one of those discreet
artists whose career is
immense.”
Read
an interview that
Geoffrey Newman did with
Nelson Goerner after his
2015 concert with us.
At the competition, Kate
Liu stole the hearts of
the Polish audience with
her authentic Chopin
performances. Kate Liu
was seen by many jurors
and musicians as the
Competition’s most
original artistic
personality.
World renowned music
historian Alan Walker
has agreed to give a
lecture on the day of
Kate Liu's recital.
Ticket holders for Kate
Liu's recital are
eligible to attend
Professor Walker's
lecture before the
concert. Walker is the
author of the recent
biography of Chopin, one
that has been critically
and universally praised,
and said to be the best
English language
biography of the
composer.
There will be a very
limited number of
Walker's Chopin
biography available for
purchase at the talk, as
well as an opportunity
to have the author sign
your copy of the book.
Celebrate the coming of
Spring by joining us for
these two sublime
musical experiences.
