Return
of Dina Yoffe
Those who
attended Dina Yoffe’s
last recital in
Vancouver would no doubt
remember her masterful
playing of the preludes
of Chopin and Scriabin.
For her upcoming
Vancouver appearance,
she will present
Schubert’s Sonata in D
major (D. 850) as well
as a performance of
Chopin’s complete
waltzes.
Yoffe made musical
headlines when she
garnered the silver
medal at the 1975
International Chopin
Competition in Warsaw as
a runner-up to the now
legendary Krystian
Zimerman. The politics
of the then Soviet Union
prevented her from
travelling, and it was
not until her emigration
to Israel that her
career began to take
off.
Vancouver critic
Geoffrey Newman wrote an
excellent article about
her life, her art, and
her last recital in
Vancouver. You
can read it here.
Vancouver music lovers
would not want to miss
hearing this incredible
artist and musician in
recital. Yoffe’s recital
will take place on
Friday, March 13th, at
7:30, at the Vancouver
Playhouse. For more

concert or to purchase

A
Very Special Event
For the
last few years, we have
been happily
collaborating with our
friends at Early Music
Vancouver to present
recitals on a
beautifully restored
1852 Broadwood piano.
This year, we present in
recital Tomasz Ritter,
winner of the first
International Chopin
Competition for Period
Instrument. The event
will be held on Monday,
March 23rd, 7:30 pm at
the Vancouver Playhouse.
In conjunction with this
recital, we have invited
renowned scholar and
music historian
Professor
Benjamin Vogel to
present a lecture before
the concert. Entitled
“Chopin’s Piano – Once
and Today”. In his
lecture, Vogel will
share his thoughts on
idea of recreating the
authentic sounds of
Chopin music from his
time. This is a very
special opportunity to
hear the thoughts of one
of today's most eminent
music scholars.
This
lecture is exclusively
for ticket holders to
Tomasz Ritter’s
recital, and will take
place at 5:30 at the
Playhouse Salon
therefore space will
be limited. For
ticketholders who
would like to register
for the lecture,
please call us at
604-871-4450 or email
to us.
There will also be a
pre-concert chat with
Tomasz Ritter at 6:45 on
the stage of the
Vancouver Playhouse. For
detailed programme
information, and to
purchase tickets, please
visit us here.
Federico
Colli's recital
Because of
a change in the artist's
travel arrangements, the
Sunday, May 17th, 2020
recital by Federico
Colli has been changed
to 7:30 p.m. We hope
that this slight change
of time will not cause
too much inconvenience
for you, and we thank
you for your
understanding. New
tickets have been
printed and will be send
out to ticket holders
next week.
