The Vancouver Chopin Society is proud and pleased to present the return appearance of master pianist and artist Kevin Kenner, in recital on Sunday, November 24th, at 3:00 p.m., at the Vancouver Playhouse.

And if you are a ticket holder to the Kenner recital, you can win a trip to Warsaw for the finals of the International Chopin Competition, to be held in October 2020. The prize package includes one round trip ticket to Warsaw, three nights accommodation, and two tickets to the competition’s Finals. The draw will take place at the end of the concert’s intermission. You are eligible for the draw even if you happen to have to miss the concert!

In the year 1990, Kenner made musical headlines by winning the top prizes at the Chopin Competition in Warsaw (together with the People’s Prize as well as the prize for best performance of a Polonaise) and the Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow, as well as being the recipient of the International Terrence Judd Award in London. Since then, Kenner has been performing around the world, garnering critical accolades wherever he played. Distinguished conductor Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, who recorded with pianists like Arthur Rubinstein, claimed Kenner’s interpretation of Chopin to be the most sensitive and beautiful he remembered.

An artist at the heights of his maturity and musicianship, Kenner’s Vancouver recital programme includes works by Haydn, Schumann, Chopin and Paderewski, and centers around the theme of humour in music. In a review of Kenner’s recent album of Paderewski’s music, critic Jeremy Nicholas writes that the most compelling reason for us to acquire this CD is the playing of Kevin Kenner, “His approach to Paderewski’s music reveals long acquaintance and great affection, with beautifully judged rubato and a beguiling intimacy.” Don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear the music of this great pianist and composer, as played by Kevin Kenner.
