Ever since its inception in 1927, many of today’s legendary figures in music have first made their mark at Warsaw’s International Chopin Competition. Quite often, the most interesting artists can be found among the runners up of the competition.
Winner of the 5th prize and an absolute audience favourite at the 19th International Chopin Competition in Warsaw, Malaysian pianist Vincent Ong moved the Varsovian audience with his musicality as well as his complete identification with the music of Chopin.
Since his triumph in Warsaw, Vincent has been busy giving concerts throughout Poland as well as throughout the world.
Born in the beautiful city of Penang, Ong currently resides and studies in Berlin. This laureate of the Chopin Competition has also triumphed in many prestigious international competitions, such as the International Taipei Maestro Piano Festival (2020) and the International Robert Schumann Competition (2024), and has received the Susanne Scholten Foundation’s Maurice Ravel Piano Prize, a scholarship from the Clavarte Foundation of Switzerland and the Lucia-Loeser Scholarship funded by his university.
