You have by now probably heard about the new province-wide restrictions starting December 20, announced in the latest Public Health Order (PHO): https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/covid-19/info/restrictions#new and https://news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2021HLTH0230-002414.

This announcement limits the Chan Concert Hall to 50% capacity. These changes will be effective until Jan 31. 2022. Because Bruce Liu concert at the Chan has already been sold out, you can imagine the kind of impact it has on all of us, not to mention a logistical nightmare this has created. At this point, we are uncertain if these new restrictions will be extended beyond Jan 31st.

Now for the good news.

Bruce Liu has agreed to play a second concert the day following his Chan Centre recital, on Monday, Feb 21st (Family Day) at the Orpheum at 2 pm. Tickets go on sale at noon of February 8th, at the Chan Centre box office! In order to buy tickets online, please go to the artist’s page on our website and click Buy Tickets button!

We will continue to sell subscriptions after Jan 31st.

The remainder of the season are no less spectacular – recitals by Rafal Blechacz, gold medalist of the 2005 Chopin Competition (Tuesday, April 5th, 7:30 p.m. at the Vancouver Playhouse), and Eric Lu, a prizewinner at the 2015 Chopin Competition as well as gold medalist of the 2018 Leeds International Piano Competition (Sunday, May 22nd, 3:00 p.m. at the Vancouver Playhouse).

For the three concerts in 2022, we are selling tickets at 75% of the hall’s capacity, as we realized that some of our audience members may not yet be comfortable with a full capacity hall. The orchestra section of the Chan Centre and the Vancouver Playhouse will be sold at 100% capacity, but the seats in the parterre of the Chan Centre and the balcony of the Vancouver Playhouse will be sold at 50% capacity.
